How to learn anything quickly
Get ahead of the game by mastering the secret to peak performance
The key to learning fast isn’t reading books or studying in a classroom.
It’s a lesser known secret, from Timothy Gallwey - the creator of inner game coaching.
Read this to learn what Tim Ferriss knows about learning that will make you get any skill with EASE.

The 2 kinds of game:
Have you ever tried to learn something - only to be overcome by self-critical thoughts?
The best performers know that there are 2 games:
-Outer - like how to hit a ball.
-Inner - handling internal obstacles like self doubt
Peak performances comes from mastering the inner game.
The Inner Game of Tennis
Timothy Gallwey is a tennis coach and author of the groundbreaking book: "The Inner Game of Tennis".
Far from being a book about Tennis - it is actually the cornerstone of modern coaching and performance.
Gallwey invented the concept of "Inner Game" from simple observations.
Gallwey found that we are made up of 2 selves.
-Self 1 is the conscious thinking mind that comes up with self critical thoughts and doubts.
-Self 2 is the unconscious body that is the doer of actions.
The key to success is cultivating a good relationship between these selves.
The thinking mind judges actions as good or bad.
Gallwey found that judgement - even if it was evaluating an action as good - did not improve performance.
What does lead to improvement on the other hand is non-judgmental awareness.
This is key to freeing up your bandwidth.
Our natural ability to learn
The body has an innate ability to learn.
A child does not need instruction on how to learn walking - and the conscious mind is not yet developed.
As a tennis coach Gallwey found he did not need to instruct his clients on how to play tennis - they would improve on their own.
Developing a deep trust for our ability to learn - is key to quieting the conscious mind.
Our mind needs to understand that it does not need to micromanage and control - and that doing so is counterproductive.
In other words the mind needs to be the servant and not the master.
Wu Wei - or not forcing
The ancients knew this as the principle of Wu Wei.
According to Alan Watts it is - the art of not forcing anything.
To practice Wu Wei:
• Quiet your mind
• Let go of thinking and habitual patterns
• Act from a place of natural awareness
Yet true Wu Wei cannot be practiced.

Paradoxically our conscious mind - by trying too hard DESTROYS our success.
Relaxed concentration frees up our mental bandwidth - so we can focus on the things that really matter.
Reaching this state cannot be forced - it requires ALLOWING and BEING rather than doing.

How to get leverage
Mastering the inner game translates to any other skill. That's why it is a skill of skills.
Any practice will eventually transcend itself.
Tennis is no longer focused on learning how to hit the ball, but rather on how to focus the mind.
This is how you get MASSIVE leverage.
To practically implement this you can:
• Use visual imagery rather than verbal instructions
• Program your unconscious mind with clear intention
• Let go of judgments to access your natural abilities
Make it an every day practice and build a new relationship with yourself.
P.S.
The best way to learn this is to practice the way you communicate and express yourself.
